Highlights of Kinnaur Valley Tour

Kinnaur, often called the "Land of Gods", is nestled in the northeastern part of Himachal Pradesh. Famous for its Kinnauri Apples, distinct tribal culture, and the spectacular Kinner Kailash range, this road trip takes you through the world's most treacherous yet beautiful roads.

1. Sangla Valley

Known as the Baspa Valley, this is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Himalayas. Famous for trout fishing, lush green meadows, and traditional wooden architecture.

2. Chitkul Village

India's Last Village on the Indo-Tibet border. The road ends here. It offers crystal clear air, the flowing Baspa river, and the famous "Hindustan ka Aakhri Dhaba".

3. Kalpa

The main village of Kinnaur, famous for its Suicide Point (Roghi) and breathtaking sunrise views over the sacred Kinner Kailash Shivling.

4. Nako Lake

A high-altitude sacred lake bordering Spiti Valley. It freezes in winter and is surrounded by willow trees and ancient Buddhist monasteries.

5. Recong Peo

The district headquarters and a bustling hub. It’s the best place to buy authentic Kinnauri Woolens and dry fruits (Pine Nuts/Chilgoza).

6. Tabo Monastery (Spiti Border)

Often included in extended Kinnaur trips, this 1000-year-old UNESCO heritage site is known as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas” for its murals.

7. Pin Valley National Park

A cold desert biosphere reserve. While technically in Spiti, it is often accessed via the Kinnaur route. Home to the rare Snow Leopard.

8. Trekking Trails

Kinnaur offers famous treks like the Kinner Kailash Parikrama and the Rupin Pass trek connecting Himachal to Uttarakhand.
